About Any Occasion Tents & Events
Any Occasion Tents & Events celebrated its grand opening in October of 2001. However, the traditions of this rental business date back over 50 years. Located next to sister company: Aztec Rental Center, a family owned construction rental business. Any Occasion Tents & Events prides itself much like their neighbor, and rents only the highest quality equipment and relies on their extraordinary customer service. Any Occasion Tents & Events has a rich history. This family owned and operated store goes back five decades.
In 1966, Lester Sorsby and his wife Wanda founded Aztec Rental Center. They ran a mom and pop style store, renting everything from medical equipment, wedding décor, lawnmowers, and small motor boats, to large construction equipment. Their children Lester Jr., Carol and Rick were all involved in the family company. Over the years, as they streamlined the store to focus primarily on home and commercial construction equipment, less attention was paid to the non construction rental items. The oldest son Lester Jr. realizing the growing market for party rentals, decided to branch off and started Aztec Party Handlers in 1983. With his long time friend, Penne Hamblin, helping to manage the store, the new business took off and was an immediate success. Soon both companies were flourishing. The family participation grew as did the success of the company, and before long, Lester and Wanda’s son-in-law Allen Nedd had joined the company.
In 2000, after experiencing 18 years of success in the party rental business, Lester Jr. decided to sell his Aztec Party Handlers and pursue other ventures. Although Lester Jr. sold the business, he did not sell the location. Less than two years after Aztec Party Handlers was sold; Wanda partnered with her son Rick, and son-in-law Allen, deciding to open new a party store. Penne Hamblin, who had stayed on as Lester’s manager for nine years before retiring to have children, came back to manage the new store.
With business doing well, Any Occasion Tents & Events has again turned to family to help run the company. Several members of the Sorsby third generation have come to take on important roles in the family businesses. Three of Lester and Wanda’s grandsons Brian, Eric and Gary are at Aztec Rental Center, while Wanda’s granddaughters Lynne and Kelley are next door running Any Occasion.
As confusing as the story may seem and with other rental companies in the city having similar names, it’s very simple. Any Occasion Tents & Events is committed to providing its customers the best quality product along with the highest level of customer satisfaction.
